Our Lab generates behavioural insights through an empirical approach, with the goal of supporting EU policymaking by identifying behavioural elements in policies and testing behavioural levers to increase policy effectiveness.
Behavioural insights tools
Behavioural tools help understand how people think, decide and act in policy contexts:
- Behavioural diagnostics combining literature reviews, experiments, data analysis, stakeholder interviews and workshops and help understand behavioural drivers and bottlenecks and identify potential solutions.
- The behavioural systems approach, combining behavioural science with systems analysis, helps to consider interactions between behaviours, psychological drivers and structural conditions.
- Experimental methods (lab, online or field trials) are also used to test these solutions, including different narratives, choice architectures or procedures before scaling.
These tools can support the full policy cycle, from problem framing and option design to implementation and evaluation.
